Deputy President William Ruto’s second visit to Muranga has faced another hurdle as the visit date nears. Reports from Muranga indicate that the Saccos whose fundraisers are supposed to be graced by DP Ruto have distanced themselves from the event.
Ruto who is expected to visit Kangema and Mathioya constituencies may be forced to cancel his Muranga visit. Ruto who is expected to empower youths and boda boda saccos in muranga will be hosted by Member of Parliament Alice Wahome and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro for the fundraise.
However, Muranga county Police commander Josphat Kinyua is yet to give the greenlight for the visit after reports emerged that chaos within the Saccos emerged. Kinyua said there appears to be conflicts between the management of the Saccos and the member are yet to come to an agreement.
According to reports by the People Daily, there exists doubts on transparency especially in money matters in the Saccos hence the conflicts. The Mathioya Women Sacco which is supposed to be holding the fundraise on the same day claimed they are not aware of any fundraise.
The County Police Commander raised concern that there may be groups purporting to be the Saccos and may result to chaos hence the delay in giving the go ahead for Ruto’s visit.
“We could be having cartels of other interested parties hiding under the cover of the Saccos who want to get this money” he said.
“We are not opposed to the meeting but the right process has to be followed as dictated by the law,” he added.
